Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is having a great week! Finals are over. The semester has ended. It's almost Christmas. & my best friend's birthday is on the 23rd. During all of this there have also been some hard times that have been happening. My friend's dad committed suicide just a day after the the Newtown, CT shooting happened. Since then, everything has been a little gloomy around here. That's why I decided to do something to remind everyone that even though it's a rough time, it's Christmas time AKA the greatest time of the year! This is the time when we celebrate the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem over 2000 years ago. So I did a cover song on my youtube channel of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". It's not the best quality (& I look a little silly), but I wanted to remind people that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I'll post the link to the video below, if you like it then pass it on to someone else. If you don't then that's cool too.

Oops! Sorry I Forgot!

I kinda forgot about posting a blog last week. Well it's finals week, which means I'll have a little more time to write more on this blog & concentrate on chilling (in between hanging out with my friends & working). So I thought since it's gonna be a crazy week for me & all my fellow EKU students, I thought that I would post a video that I found hilarious. I'm sure everyone has heard ALL about Harry Styles & Taylor Swift being together =/, unless you live under a rock then I don't know how you haven't heard. Personally, I love Harry Styles, but Taylor is starting to irk my nerves cuz she dates tons of guys & then writes songs that probably over exaggerate what really happened. Sorry if you're a T-Swift fan, I mean she has some good songs, but I'm just tired of hearing about her being with a new guy each week. So since we know she's probably gonna dump him soon (or he'll dump her), Tim Urban, who you may have seen on American Idol a few years back, has written the song that Taylor will  be singing after the breakup. It's so crazy how much it sounds exactly like a song she would write & sing it! Okay I'll shut up now & show you the video. Be sure to tweet Tim your reaction to the song!

End of the Semester Stress

Hey yall! How was everyone's week? Mine was a little stressful cuz it's the end of the semester & everything seems to be due! Though it's not a much as a lot of people, it's still a heck a lot of work. Luckily I only have my PHE project left to finish & I'll be finished until my finals. Aside from the crazy week, I died my hair dark brown & got to spend time with some awesome friends! I just can't believe the semester is almost over! It's weird knowing that next week is the last Cru meeting & Bible study for this semester.  I don't know how I feel about it being almost over. But for the most part it has been a good week. =)

This week I decided to go back to featuring artists again (since I've been slacking a lil bit the past few weeks). Let me present to you Aaron Jennings! He's a pop/acoustic singer from Goshen, Indiana. He's performed with many of the bands I've featured in the past. He also designs logos & merch for various bands like Allstar Weekend, Paradise Fears, The After Party, & Hollywood Ending. His latest single is called "Like We Do" & it's on itunes now so you should definitely go get it! For more Aaron, his sites are facebook (facebook.com/AaronJenningsMusic & facebook.com/aaronjpuckett), twitter (@aaronxjennings), designs (behance.net/InfinityLab), & youtube (youtube.com/AaronJenningsMusic). Well that's all for this week. Hope everyone is doing amazing! Share the love & if you want you can maybe possibly share this blog with everyone. Make sure you check out Aaron's stuff & I'll catch up with yall next week! =)

Happy Belated Thanksgiving!!! =D

Hello! If you haven't read the title yet then happy belated Thanksgiving! I hope everyone who celebrates this holiday had a great day, & even if you don't celebrate it I still hope you had a great day. I didn't do much except for eat dinner with some of my family & worked on one of my two big projects that is due next Thurday. Anything happen this week to me? Why yes it did! I went to class only Monday & Tuesday so I got to come home early Tuesday night. The only bad thing was that I found out that the guy that I have a huge crush on isn't looking for a relationship, & the last time I spoke to him (which was on Sunday) I word vommited & embarrassed the crap out of myself. But it's whatever cuz I believe it's all part of God's plan. On the bright side, I got to spend time with my best friend & one of my really good guy friends & his sister on Tuesday night. I really miss hanging out with Kayla & Seth when I'm away at college. Who knows, maybe it's God's plan for me to be with Seth again, but for now I'm ok with us being close friends. But you all are probably tired of me talking about my love problems, so let's move on. I want to know what you all are thankful for. Personally, I'm thankful for God, my family, my friends, my dog, my education, my job, a house, a house, music, my health, & just everything & everyone who has been a part of my life. I'm also thankful to everyone who reads my posts & listens to me blab on about my life. So thank you so much if you're reading this! <3

This week, I wanted to let you all hear some of the songs & covers I've been listening to lately. As you can tell, music is a huge part of my life & I love sharing new music with all of you! =) So here's a few videos for you to watch & maybe you'll find a new favorite song.

New Schedule!

Ello! I really feel like talking in a British accent today & I have no idea why. So now that we have that out f the way, I wanna talk about me taking the next step in college AKA registering for my second semester sophomore classes. I  still have to get an override for one class, which I'm able to skip since I'm a transfer, but other than that I got most of the classes I wanted plus a few I would rather go without. No worries though, I can handle it! I have this one class than literally made me get geekily excited when it popped up, Voice for Non-Majors. To you, it proably sounds like another boring class, but to me it's like God has "thrown me a bone" & given me the class that let's me sing without having to be a major in music. I've been talking about how much I miss choir but I never have time & now it's like I can do that. Also, I'll be getting vocal training that I need & maybe that will be one step closer to me auditioning for a talent show or just breaking out into the music industry in general. I'm just really freaking excited! Well that's all I wanted to say, but I have no artist for this week (yet). I may post another blog soon once I think of something. Have a great week everyone!

Crushes

Whaddup yall?! I don't even know why but I felt like saying that. Anyway, I wanted to talk about something this week that may be a little more relatable to girls than guys, if guy seven read this blog, crushes. Ladies, have you ever liked a guy so much that every time you see him your heart beats really fast & your stomach does a litte flip? Well that's what I've been experiencing a lot recently. There's a guy at my work that I've had a huge crush on for a few years, but I just started talking to him when I started working at Kroger. I know I know, by now you're probably wanting to poke your eyes out or puke with all the girliness (or at least that's how I used to be). Well my problem is that I flirt with him a TON & I think he flirts back but we are never alone so that either of us can really say what we feel. I mean I could be like most girls & just go up to him & bluntly say that I like him & give him my number, but I'm not that kind of girl. I'm afraid of getting rejected & I probably would have pursued the relationship more if it weren't for that fact. Also, we work at a place where everyone knows about pretty much everything & word travels fast, so just imagine how fast me telling him that I have a crush on him would spread. What would make it worse is if he didn't actually like me back & he's just a really nice guy. It's an irrational fear that I have so I would just rather guard my heart right now. But if my friends are right & he does like me, I'm hoping he will make a move soon before I stress out even more every time I see him with whether he thinks I look cute or not. It's not like I don't try though, we flirt ALL the time, I go & visit him when he works out in the gas station, & this past weekend he jokingly said I had him whipped (which in Corey speak means he'll do just about anything for me). I don't know what to do! Part of me wants to just go for it, but the other part of me says to stay on my guard & not get too close. What should I do? Do any of you have any advice? & have you ever been in this predicament? Let me know. =)

Okay, so now that my little rant is over, I have to introduce you all to a new artist! This week I've chosen to feature the amazing band The After Party! The band consists of Brandon Stewart, Andy Bell, & Alan Bell (& yes Andy & Alan are twins). They are a pop band from Kansas who have just recently moved to LA. They've been on tour with several bands, including Allstar Weekend, Paradise Fears Hollywood Ending, Before You Exit, & others. You may have heard some of their old music on MTV, songs such as "Hey Little Miss" & "Can't Stop". If the lead singer sounds different in the old music it's because the old lead singer is no longer in the band (ask them if you want to know details). Anyway, the guys are coming out with a new single very soon called "Love the Way You Love Me" & I promise it will rock your socks off! You can keep up with the band through twitter (@theafterparty @BrandonTAP @AndyBellTAP & @alananthonyTAP) facebook (same as twitter) & youtube (youtube.com/theafterpartyrox). Also, they do random stickams (well Brandon mainly does random stickams at night) on stickam.com/theafterpartymusic, so you may want to keep an eye out on the band's twitter if you're interested. Well that's all I have for now! Make sure if there's an artist you want me to feature that you comment & let me know! Have a fantastic week & stay safe! =)

Best Weekend EVER!!!!!

Hey yall! (& yes I just put my southern twang into this) So last weekend (plus Thursday) was probably hands down the BEST weekend of my 20 years on this Earth! It's not just cuz it was my birthday, but cuz my friends are so amazing that they put so much effort into making it the best birthday ever. =) First, on Thursday I only had one class, which made it amazing, & so I got to chill for a little bit until my friend Felisha got out of class. Then, I went down to DSP to eat with her & she sneakily went to the P.O.D. (on campus grocery store for those of you who don't know) & bought me a Reese's Cup Pie (my favorite!) for my birthday. Then I got on facebook & saw that I had a ton of birthday messages on my wall, but the one that was one of the sweetest was that one of the leaders of Greeter Team tagged me in a post on our team page & wished me happy birthday. I went to Greeter Team later & they all told me happy birthday once they realized it was my birthday. Well after that we went to Cru, where I got a ton more people to wish me happy birthday. Then to top the night off, my Bible study got all of DSP (where we eat at) to sing me happy birthday & then they made me a card! The rest of the weekend was amazing too (even though I had no birthday extravaganzas on Friday) & I had 2 little birthday dinners, 1 at Taco Bell back home with some of my family, my best friend, another friend, & my ex/good friend that I've known since 4th grade, & then another at Steak N Shake by my college with my dad, grandparents, & 2 girls from my Bible study. All in all it was just an amazing weekend!

As for music, I wanted to introduce a very talented singer/songwriter from Dallas, TX with a kind heart & really freaking sweet red hair, Tanner Patrick! You may know him from the show Opening Act where he opened up for Brad Paisley.Even though Tanner is definitely a pop singer, he sings great with country songs too. He is a such a sweetheart & you can tell that he loves what he does cuz of the amout of work he puts into his songs & covers. He started out in a band called Disco Curtis, but then after everyone else went away to college Tanner started his solo career & changed his name from Tanner Howe to Tanner Patrick (Patrick is his middle name FYI). I actually became a fan of his the day he announced on stickam that he was gonna go solo with his music. He already has one song out, but if you can't get enough of his beautiful voice then check out his covers on Youtube (youtube.com/tannerpatrick). He also has some other sites worth checking out: Stickam, where he does a weekly live chat at 5 pm EST (stickam.com/tannerpatrick), Facebook (facebook.com/tannerpatrick), & Twitter (twitter.com/tannerpatrick). I think that's about all, but make sure you check out his newest cover of "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" & his original song "Merry Go Round". He's super talented & seriously the nicest guy ever! Go check out his music & share it with all your friends. Okie dokie, that's all for this week! Don't forget to comment & let me know any artists you would like me to feature & make sure to share this with a friend!

I'm Turning 20!!!!!!!!!!!! =D

So if you couldn't guess by the title (& my last post) I'm turning 20 on Thursday! At first it was a little scary to think that I won't be a teenager after Thursday, but now I'm just really excited for that day. Luckily, Thursday just happens to be my favorite day of the week cuz I have one class, Cru, I get to hang with my friends, it's the day before I get to go home (I love everything about that part except for the fact that I have to work, & on Twitter it's #Jerzday (for Stephen Jerzak & his family), #TaylorThrashThursday (for Taylor Thrash), #TannerThursday (for Tanner Patrick, who will be featured in a future blog, & #ThrowbackThursday (pretty self explanatory. I just can't believe it's already been 20 years! My mind is blown to the extreme! I mean it feels like just yesterday I was turning 16 & excited to get my permit, & now I'm almost (technically) considered a young adult. I've probably been bugging everyone with how excited I am, but I can't help it. I've talked about it since October 1st & it's almost here, where did the time go? But that's enough about my birthday babble.

In this week's blog, I wanna feature some pretty well known guys who came together to create the band MKTO, Malcolm David Kelley & Tony Oller. You may know Tony from a little show on Disney Channel called "As the Bell Rings" where he played Danny. Malcolm played on "Lost" where he played Walt. & if that doesn't jog your memory then you may remember them from a more recent show called "Gigantic" where they played Walt & Finn. If you still have no clue, then you must have been hiding under a rock & you just need to google them. Anyways, they both did their solo careers for a while but have joined forces to just explode our minds with amazingness, a mix of pop, rap, & all kinds of great things blended in! The band was first called Role Models, but just recently changed it to MKTO (their initials in case you haven't figured it out yet). They haven't released any official music yet, but I promise it's coming soon! In the meantime, check them out on Twitter (@WeAreMKTO @therealmalcolm @FollowOller), Facebook (facebook.com/wearemkto), Youtube (youtube.com/mktoofficial), Tumblr (MKTOofficial.tumblr.com), &  Soundcloud (soundcloud.com/mkto). Welps, that's all for this week! Let me know of any music you want me to feature, leave comments, share this with your friends, & have an amazing week!

So far I still have no idea what to go as this year. Last year I was Laura Croft from Tomb Raider, but I need something new this year.

Now on to the music portion of this blog! This week's artist is actually the first band that I will be featuring. They are a 6 man band called Paradise Fears! Sam Miller (vocals), Cole Andre (guitar/vocals), Lucas Zimmerman (drums), Jordan Merrigan (guitar), Michael Walker (keyboard), & Marcus Sand (bass) make up this amazing band. They are a pop/rock band from Vermillion, SD. Each week they do #TurtleTuesday where they post a video on their Youtube (youtube.com/paradisefears) & they have some fantastic original songs, covers, behind the scenes, & more. This band has been a favorite of mine for about a year & a half. Right now the boys are working on their new album, but you can go to iTunes, Spotify, & Youtube to check out their old stuff. They have also teamed up with Children's Miracle Network & they are giving all of the proceeds from their cover of "The Fighter" by Gym Class Heroes & Ryan Tedder to the Children's Miracle Network. So if you don't buy any other song from them, at least buy this song for the kids, how can you say no to a $0.99 that helps kids. Also, the band has a Facebook (facebook.com/paradisefears) & personal Facebook accounts, plus they have a band Twitter (@paradisefears) & personal accounts there too (@samtwomiller @ParadiseCole @lucaszimmerman7 @jmerrific @mjwalker0 & @markymarky69). As far as any other sites, check out paradisefears.com for any information, paradisefears.tumblr.com, & westapenmerch.com for their merch. Make sure if you can go see them on tour with Go Radio this fall. All the dates are posted on their band Facebook page.

Oh, & there's a special reason why I chose this week to feature them....Thursday is Marcus's 21st birthday! & Friday is Sam's 21st birthday! =D Also, Cole's 21st birthday is October 30th! So happy early birthday Marcus, Sam, & Cole! Hope it's a great one guys! Everyone should go spam their accounts with birthday wishes!

BEST WEEKEND EVER!!! =D

First off, let me start by saying that Fall Getaway was the best experience EVER! I got to meet tons of new people, played some games that were surprisingly fun, got a call from Dylan Lloyd, grew closer to my Bible study, &, most importantly, grew closer to God! I can't wait for next year to do it all over again! =D

Next thing on the list, I need to introduce a new artist this week! This week it's My Genuine Find AKA Bobby Mares. I was lucky to call him my boyfriend yesterday on National Boyfriend Day for about an hour & a half. (you have to know him to understand) He's a singer/songwriter from Las Cruces, NM who has a style all his own, pop mixed with that Bobby flavor. He is also the creator of his own clothing line called Heartdrop & he raps on the side as B. Middy. Bobby's a hilarious guy but also one of the most humble guys! On his Youtube (youtube.com/MyGenuineFind) he has 4 hilarious/sweet videos called "Daily Dose of Compliments". If you get a chance, check him out on Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, & Keek. All of his links are either /MyGenuineFind or /heartdrop, except for his 2nd Twitter is twitter.com/iambobbymares. Also check out his website/tumblr mygenuinefind.com. That's all for now!

Fall Getaway & A Good Friend

Okay I know that I was originally gonna post a blog only once a week, but I've been wanting to blog about this for a little while & I can't wait a week to post this. First off, I wanted say that I'm freaking excited about Fall Getaway this weekend with Cru. That means no work, no school, just hanging with my friends, my Bible study, & getting to meet new people & have fun. We'll be sleeping in cabins, having a bonfire, playing games, listening to a speaker, & most importantly....going to E-TOWN HOEDOWN!!!! =D This weekend is gonna be really fun & everyone who's gone says you never regret going, & will regret if you don't go. I can't wait!!!!!!!

In other news, the person that I'm featuring in today's blog is in a few bands, but his main passion is film. Introducing, Albert Gonzalez! He has directed several short films, such as "The Desk" & "Stay Out of the Woods", as well as several music videos for bands such as The After Party, Coleman & Chris, The Great Commission, & others. Along with directing he also tours with 3 different bands. He sings lead vocals for Hematidrosis & on the side he fills in on bass for The Great Commission & A Bullet for Pretty Boy. All 3 are heavy metal bands, but I think you will like them even if you're not a heavy metal fan. Albert is from Houston, TX & is one of the most humble guys I have met. If you get a chance check him out on Youtube at youtube.com/albertishollywood, twitter at twitter.com/albertgfilms, & facebook at facebook.com/albertgonzalezfilms. I've had the pleasure to meet him & the guys from The Great Commission this summer & I can honestly say they are all great guys! So if you do anything today, do yourself a favor & at least check out Albert's films, you won't be disappointed (& yes I'm aware that I say that in every blog, but it's true). Oh & before I forget, he has a new horror film coming to Youtube on October 4th, so be sure to check that out also. =)

New Week, New Blog

I got a lot of views on my first blog, so I'm guessing everyone likes it so far. Since I posted last a lot have things have happened. I made a lip-dub of "As Long As You Love Me" on my Youtube channel, hung out with my best friends, took some exams, tweeted, facebooked (& yes that's a word in my book), went to Cru & Bible study, worked, flirted with the cute guy at work, & even met some really cool people. I also listened to some great music, which actually brings me to the point of this blog...new music to share with you guys! This week I wanna tell you guys about a great artist who I have been a fan of for about a year. His name is Taylor Thrash & he's a singer/songwriter originally from Dallas, TX but he now resides in Celina, TX. If you're into cheesy pop, love songs, break-up songs, fun songs, sad songs, or even a little rap mixed in, then you'll love Taylor! He has just recently started doing raps on the side under the name T. Thrash, but his main passion is singing & he puts his heart into his music. Even if you don't like pop music, I strongly believe you'll love his music. He released his debut full-length album, called Step Forward, about a month ago. You can find it on iTunes or on his website TaylorThrash.com. Also follow him on twitter (twitter.com/taylorthrash), facebook (facebook.com/taylorthrash), & purevolume (purevolume.com/taylorthrash). You can subscribe to his Youtube channel too, youtube.com/taylorthrash. Like I said before, I strongly believe you will love his music! Check it out & let me know what you think! I've given you all the ways to listen to his music so you have no excuse, go & listen. If you have anyone you would like for me to check out or feature next week just leave it in the comments & I will definitely check them out.  =)

Love for God & Live for Music!

Hey World!

So this is my new blog, where I will try to start posting stuff. Welcome! If you're reading this then you're pretty awesome & I already love you! Some of my other college friends blog so I figured what the heck, someone out there probably cares about what I have to say. Before I go any further, let me introduce myself. My name is Patience and I'm a sophomore in college. I'm a huge lover of God and believe he is the one & only Savior. Don't worry I'm not one of those Christians who shoves religion down your throat, I mean really who wants that. Instead I will push a bunch of music in your face. I'm a singer, but I also check out a lot of unsigned bands or just bands who haven't been heard of. Some of the music I love is mainstream, such as Demi Lovato and One Direction (don't judge me). I could go on for days about how much music has influenced my life & how much I love it, but I'll stop right here. For now I'll just offer some music suggestions. First off check out Stephen Jerzak & Dylan Lloyd. They just released a new EP on iTunes called "What Could Be Better?" You can also go to Stephen's Youtube channel (www.youtube.com/stephenjerzak) & check out some of his music & covers. He's a pop singer originally from La Crosse, WI & now resides in Nashville, TN with his girlfriend Cassy. I don't know much about Dylan yet since I just started listening to him, but his Youtube channel is www.youtube.com/dylanlloyd923. Both of these artists both have twitters that are the same URL's as their Youtube channels. Give them a chance, you won't regret it! Also if you buy the EP & send pictures of your proof of purchase & your review  to whatcouldbebetterep@gmail.com, you will get a personal phone call from Stephen & Dylan. Also don't forget to send your phone number along with the pictures. What Could Be Better?! (get it?) Okay so I'll shut up now, but you should go check out their EP on iTunes. I'll try to post about once a week at least. Leave comments or whatever, & if you have any music suggestions leave them in the comments too. =)

Live for God & love for music!
